ANDRIUS REKAŠIUS
Andrius Rekašius was born in 1991, in a small resort town in Lithuania named Palanga. Already at the age of five, Andrius entered Palanga’s Stasys Vainiūnas’ music school, where he was learning to play piano for 8 years, when he was introduced to percussion.
He received his Bachelor’s degree as a percussionist at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and Master’s at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
Andrius has participated in various youth orchestras and projects in Lithuania and Norway and played in such known places like Berlin, Oslo, Oostende, Vienna, Prague, Graz, Bern concert halls, Bratislava philharmonic, Bergen Grieg concert hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Oslo Gamle logen and many more.
Currently, Andrius is a principal assistant of the percussion section of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Giunter Percussion ensemble and contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis.
