> Diemantė Merkevičiūtė
Diemantė Ieva Merkevičiūtė was born in 1990, in Vilnius. In 2009, she graduated from the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, where she studied at the violin class by Beata Šmidtienė, and later, by Asia Kacaitė.
She earned her Bachelor's degree in 2014 and her Master’s in 2016, in prof. I. Armonaitė- Galinienė’s class.
Since 2014, Diemantė has been a member of Danish Youth Orchestra Norden; she also performs with the chamber orchestra Modus (cond. R. Bliškevičius), participates in the projects of Lithuanian Youth Orchestra (cond. R. Šumila) and appears on stage with the ensemble Mikroorkéstra (cond. M. Levickis).
The violinist also participates in various competitions and masterclasses. In 2008, she carried out a traineeship for two months in San Francisco (USA), led by David Jacobson; Diemantė is constantly improving her skills under such famous violinists as professors L. Bjonkjaer, G. Kalinovsky, P. Roczek, S. Azizian, and others. She has performed in various cities of Lithuania, as well as in Austria, Sweden, Denmark, USA and France.
Diemantė has played, solo and with the ensemble, pieces by various Lithuanian composers (R. Mažulis, G. Sodeika, R. Motiekaitis, O. Balakauskas, M. Urbaitis, A. Šiurys, D. Digimas, A. Arutiunian), as well as the premieres.
Diemantė Merkevičiūtė has participated in a number of festivals designated for the spreading of contemporary music and promoting cooperation, such as Druskomanija, Ahead, Palendriai 2015, NOA, and the international project Crossroroads in Austria.
Since 2013, she has been performing as a member of Contemporary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis.
