PRANAS KENTRA

Pranas Kentra graduated from the Prins Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands, Vilnius  College and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. The guitarist has collaborated  with a number of jazz musicians from various countries, as well as St. Christopher and  Klaipėda Chamber Orchestras, Vilnius Choir, Kaunas and Vilnius Big Bands, and  composers of contemporary academic music.

In 2014 his group released its debut album Vague Memoirs in the Netherlands. In  collaboration with a Bulgarian drummer Stefan Goranov his second CD Centrifuge came  out in 2016, featuring a Grammy award winning Dutch bass player Mark Haanstra and  other talented musicians of the younger generation.

Since 2014, Pranas has been a member of contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis. As a bandleader and composer he has his own quartet and is a sideman of various Lithuanian jazz oriented projects, such as  Reinless, Lithuanian Jjazz Ensemble and Rokas Jaunius Septet.

In addition to performing activities Pranas Kentra had been a long time teacher at the  Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy and the Juozas Gruodis  Conservatoire. Since 2016 he has been working as a guitar, rhythm class and ensemble
