Pranas Kentra graduated from the Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands, Vilnius College and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
The guitarist has collaborated with a number of jazz musicians from various countries, as well as St. Christopher and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestras, Kaunas and Vilnius Big Bands, and composers of contemporary academic music, such as David Behrman with whom he performed in a duo setting at Jauna Muzika festival in 2016.
In 2013, Pranas Kentra Trio won the Gitarų šėlsmas (Guitar Rampage) competition in Vilnius; in 2014, his group released its debut album Vague Memoirs in the Netherlands. In addition, he released several singles with pop-rock project Ta’dam. In collaboration with a Bulgarian drummer Stefan Goranov his new international CD Centrifuge came out in 2016, featuring a Grammy award winning Dutch bass player Mark Haanstra and other talented musicians of the younger generation.
With various formations the guitarist appeared in the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Baltic States.
In addition to performing activities Pranas Kentra has been teaching at the Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University Music Academy and the Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire.
Since 2014, Pranas has been a member of Contempoary Music Ensemble Synaesthesis.
