ARMINAS BIŽYS

Arminas Bižys was born in 1994, in Alytus, where he played saxophone in the Alytus Youth Symphony Orchestra. Later Arminas moved to Vilnius, where he continued his music studies at the Vilnius J. Tallat-Kelpša Conservatoire.


After graduating in 2012, Arminas began to study classical saxophone in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), in the class of A.Fedotovas and received a Bachelor’s degree in classical saxophone and Pedagogy (2018). Now he is currently studying Masters in Music performance: Contemporary music and improvisation (Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre).

From the year of 2018, Arminas actively attended numerous workshops with musicians such a Barry Guy, Kresten Osgood, Stefen Schorn, Mats Gustafsson, Frank Gratkowski, Santiago Quintans, Alastair Macdonald, Per Zanussi, Michael Moore, Vyacheslav Ganelin, Augusti Fernandez and more.


Arminas is currently a member of the contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis and saxophone quartet Katarsis4, an ensemble of spontaneous and free music; as well as in many jazz, free jazz, rock jazz and experimental jazz bands such as Džiazlaif, Avis Rara, Miško Gyventojai, OJIBO Afrobeat and many other music bands and collaborations.
