Donatas Butkevičius finished his Bachelor studies at Prof. Donatas Bagurskas double-bass class in 2014, and his Master studies at Prof. Povilas Jacunskas chamber music class in 2016 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Donatas also studied in Brno, Czech Republic, in Prof. Miloslav Jelinek double-bass class with the help of the Erasmus student exchange program.

 

Donatas is a laureate of many international competitions in Lithuania and Czech Republic, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles. He is a winner of the International Double Bass Competition in 2016 (Holice, Czech Republic) and was the finalist of  Leoš Janaček International Competition in Brno in 2018.

 

Since 2013 Donatas has been a member of contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis and Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra as well as the Lithuanian philharmonic chamber ensemble Musica Humana.
